Coventry Sphinx Resign From The MFYL

It has been confirmed that Coventry Sphinx have resigned from the Midland Floodlit Youth League.  Town were provisionally scheduled to play them at Sphinx Drive on Thursday and consequently have no game this week.

Sphinx were promoted to join Town in the Premier Division South after winning the Championship of the Eastern Division last season but only played one game  -  a 3-3 draw with Pilkington XXX which has since been expunged from the League table  -  and their demise means that the Premier Division South will now operate with only eight teams this time round.

Youth Team Trials and Training

Town Youth start training on Monday evenings and are looking for new players to join their existing squad who finished runners up last season in the Midweek Floodlit Youth League Premier Division South. Contact Clive Seeley on 07952 537724 for further details.

Town Youth Are Ready For The New Season

After finishing runners-up in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Premier Division South last time round Town Youth will be looking to go one better when the new season kicks off in a few weeks time.

Current champions Kidderminster Harriers who pipped Town to the title by a single point will provide tough opposition, and the other teams retaining their place in the Division are Redditch United, Rugby Town, Solihull Moors and Stourbridge.

Birmingham City and Romulus have withdrawn from the League while Racing Club Warwick who finished bottom  last season have been relegated to the Eastern Division.

The new teams coming in are Coventry Sphinx promoted from the Eastern Division along with Pilkington XXX and Studley from the Western Division.

Town’s preparations for the new campaign move up a gear on Saturday August 8th when they visit Oadby Town for a pre-season friendly with an 11 am kick off.
